This OTB frontman is a hip hop / drum n bass MC by day and a producer by night. Always doing big things for the current state of hip hop, Fi3Ld maximizes with the strength of his crew.
When asked about why he thinks he was put here, Fi3Ld replies, "I say you've got 100 years on this Earth if youre lucky. Add that to the fact that there are billions of people out there. So I believe if you're not here for the betterment of society as a whole, you're not just wasting your time, but everybody elses too. In the words of my man X to tha Z - "Handle your business before your business handles you." Well put.
Throughout his life, one of the most influential characters has been his pops. Literally - without him, he wouldn't be here today. His favorite MC's are Nas, Stevie Hyper D (RIP), Andre 3000, PRT (Wise Intelligent), Pharoahe Monch, Canibus, and Kool Keith/Ultramagnetic MC's.Some reggae influences are Cham, Elephant Man, DJ Axel Madden & Selektah Olu. Rage Against The Machine & Tool also play a heavy part in his musical design.
He started mixing and producing in '96 longside DJ Kaneda and soon after cofounded OutThaBox; in '98 he picked the mic up and never looked back.
Fi3Ld has had the pleasure of MCing just about all of OTB's appearances in the past couple of years. Most recently, he and the crew just finished a successful run at Conquering Lion's Burn Dem Down at Club Culture in Baton Rouge, LA.
In addition, he has put out several mixtapes, including, Murda Mixtape with DJ Kaneda, and his latest, StateSideSouth V.1, which is a compilation of 100% OTB dub madness! Also, he released his first solo LP, Basic Overstanding in March 2005.
He is currently working on his new album with the famed legend, DJ Wally Pish Posh; as well as the much anticipated iLLnation project with fellow OTB/Sandia producer 360 Degrees. This project is a dnb/hip hop hybrid that’s politically charged – 'We’ve been doing this for 10+ years so its time to give a message to the following we’ve built!'
